Three Myths about Being a Youth Motivational Speaker

Speaking to Youth
There are many issues you have to deal with as a youth motivational speaker. The job has a lot of misconceptions that some people think it’s not something that could be considered a serious profession. Little did they know that motivational speaking takes a lot of effort and training too. Like other jobs, it could be very stressful especially when you experience second-hand trauma from the individuals you get to know more personally. Sort of like a Chaplain, sometimes the counselor needs counseling.
The first myth about being a youth motivational speaker is this: Motivation is all you need. You can not inspire people by simply being inspired yourself. It that’s the case, then a lot of individuals must be rich and happy now. As a speaker, it is your duty to be knowledgeable about what you are doing, as well as the things that you are talking about. You can not just have the “spark”, you need to have great things in your brain too. After all, speaking involves thousands of words. If you don’t have a good investment in your head, then your career is definitely going downhill.
The second myth is this: All you have to do is work hard. Wrong! A lot of people work very hard but they don’t even earn more than $30,000 in a year. As a motivational speaker for youth, working hard is only half of the story. The other half is working right. You have to be aware of your target niche and what they need. It is only when you are able to provide them with what they lack that you become productive.
The third myth about being a youth motivational speaker is this: It’s OK to be complacent. When you have talked about the same topics over and over again, you may feel like you already know everything about them and you don’t have to study further. This is a bad behavior and habit. As a motivational speaker, you must have the desire to continuously learn and grow as a person so you would be able to touch more lives significantly. So become a lifelong longer of youth if you are going to speak to them. Work on patience as well because you are going to need it when some students just don’t listen. Plant that seed of success and the reaping will eventually take place.
I agree with all that has been instructed here. I am a motivational speaker who was born with a gift of visions. I hold workshops out of my own home for youths and have done so for over a year and a half. My gift allows me to see their past, present and near future life so I am able to reach them on a personal level. I am also a medium and I only use that gift with teens over the age of 18. I have had great success in helping them to develope into positive, determined and confident individuals. I also do readings for grown ups. My gift is so profound and unique that I know I was born to use it to help others. I just need to get my name out there so that I can reach a broader crowd of youths. I need them and they need me.
